AbstractThis paper describes a flight test evaluation undertaken for a planned cliff-top heliport qualification. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's research helicopter MuPAL-epsilon, which is equipped with a novel ultrasonic velocimeter that can measure winds with 2 kt accuracy and 1 meter spatial resolution, was used. The MuPAL-epsilon flew around and over the planned heliport site to acquire wind data, and performed takeoff and landing flights to evaluate the effects of cliff-top turbulence on flight safety in 20 - 40 kt westerly wind conditions in which strong turbulence is likely to occur. Evaluation of the results indicates that operational wind limits are needed for westerly winds to ensure the safety of operations at the planned heliport. The wind speed limit for westerly winds is presumed to be around 30 kt.
東京都青ヶ島で検討されている新へリポート設置の候補地について,宇宙航空研究開発機構の実験用ヘリコプタMuPAL-εを用いて飛行評価を実施した.平成14年度に実施した候補地周辺の風計測飛行実験結果に基づき,今回は西寄りの風20~40kt(10~21m/s)という候補地で風の乱れが生じ得る代表的な条件で離着陸評価を行った.評価の結果,候補地の中でも東寄りの区域が比較的風の乱れが弱く,新ヘリポート設置候補地として適当であることが判明したが,西寄りの風に対しては,離着陸に際して30kt(15m/s)前後の風速制限の必要性が認められた.
