AbstractStructural study on the BBO (BaB2O4) melts including the undercooled state and the glassy state have been performed by using the high-energy x-ray diffraction method combined with the Conical Nozzle gas-flow Levitation technique (CNL). In this study, the CNL apparatus for the high temperature liquid sample was optimized for the x-ray diffraction experiments. The obtained structure factors, S(Q)'s, of the BBO show no significant changes for the temperature dependence in the liquid state even for the undercooled state. On the other hand, the S(Q) of the BBO glass was slightly different as for the position of the first peak with the liquid states.
