AbstractComprehensive HB-2 standard model tests are underway in JAXA's hypersonic wind tunnels. An HB-2 force/moment test was conducted in the JAXA 0.44 m Hypersonic Shock Tunnel (HST) with a dual-wheel model support system. Vibration acceleration contaminated in the force/moment measurements was cleaned up with an oscillation identification technique. The longitudinal characteristics were different from those obtained at the 1.27 m Hypersonic Wind Tunnel (HWT2). The sting bar of the model support system seemed to be the problem. A significant improvement was observed when a wedge-type cover was attached to the bar. However, unsymmetrical features still remain in the axial force. Detailed flow investigation of the dual-wheel model support system and a retrial of the HB-2 standard model test are planned.
