AbstractTo investigate the possibility of an extraterrestrial ecological system of human beings and forests, effects of environmental pressure on growth of trees have been experimentally studied. A daylong experiment verified consumption of carbon dioxide by a tree in one tenth of atmospheric pressure. Two young hinoki trees were planted in air decompressed at one tenth of atmospheric pressure for half a year. At the end of the long term experiment, growth of the trees slowed and stopped.
