AbstractThe grain refinement due to the dendrite breakup has been observed on Si in the solidification from the undercooled melt. In case of B-doped Si, the dendrites are formed during recalescence and the remaining melt solidify during the plateau duration accompanied with the striations. In the present study, the relationship between dendrites and striations are examined in detail to elucidate the onset of dendrite breakup.
