AbstractMany chemicals have been shown to act as allelopathic substances in living and fallen leaves of plants. There is considerable information available regarding the allelopathy phenomenon itself or potential about allelochemicals. The gravitational effects on allelopathy have been evaluated by applying pseudo-microgravity, generated by a 3D-clinostat, onto a sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) plant-lettuce system. It was found that the degree of suppression on the lettuce shoot and root growths on the medium after incubated sunflower fruits was less on the 3D-clinorotation. This result was the same as the case of velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens L.) which was found to have strong allelopathic function. Here, the amount of allelochemicals related to sunflower plant is analyzed, and the response of allelopathy to the pseudo-microgravity is discussed.
