This means that RNAs can recognize amino acids (even hydrophobic ones). At the same time, it also implies that a dipeptide can work as a primitive enzyme, although the activity may be much lower than the present enzyme (about several hundred mers). Such activity is now in general shown for various substrates and reactions (peptidyl transfer, RNA polymerization, electron and group transfer and others) for the present biosystem.
