AbstractThe containerless processing conducted by droplet levitation techniques makes it possible to manufacture new material and to conduct non-contact measurement of material properties. Here it is pointed out that surface deformation and internal floe of a large levitated droplet influence the container-less processing. In this study, at first, surface deformation behavior of levitated droplet is calculated by linear surface deformation theory. Secondly the material property is estimated from the measurement results of a large levitated droplet surface deformation. Finally internal flow of levitated droplet is observed.
