However, as the results of previous space flight experiments, it was suggested that hatched tadpoles in space had failed to inflate their lungs in a timely fashion because of difficulties to find air position in microgravity. To resolve this serious problem, parabolic flight tests have been performed to examine whether Xenopus tadpoles recognize the air/water interface by the illuminance direction as a substitutional cue for the gravity.
