First, the equations are applied to a retarded flow problem, and numerically solved by finitedifference method with an external velocity distribution prescribed. The solutions show good agreement with those of the Navier-Stokes equations. Any singularity does not appear at separation point. The computer time is much less than that required for a calculation of the Navier-Stokes equations, and nearly the same as that required for a calculation of the boundary layer equations. Second, flows in a divergent duct are investigated. Flow region is devided into outer inviscid freestream and inner viscous boundary layer near a wall. Inviscid flow is analysed by using the Laplace\u0027s equation, while boundary layer is analysed by the present approximate equations. Solutions for inner and outer flows are matched by using the concept of displacement thickness.
