Inside of these heat pipes, contrary to the conventional heat transfer tubes, evaporation and condensation processes are heavily influenced by the surface tension effect. This effect is also dominant in the heat pipes operating under micro-gravity environment in space. In this study, similarity parameters concerning to these phenomena are discussed. Laboratory experiments as well as numerical simulations of the flows relating to evaporative heat transfer have been carried out.
