AbstractThe airplane made by composite materials, especially carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), are often damaged the structure during the operation of it. The damaged areas are repaired by several methods. One of them is adhesively bonded CFRP patch repair. In this paper, four pieces of adhesively bonded CFRP single lap joint are fabricated and tested. Handmade film type adhesive is used for bonding. Different failure modes are observed, which leads to scattered values of their strength. This test results are compared with the other reports. It is difficult to control the failure mode of the bonded joints with the handmade film type adhesives. Manufactured adhesive is recommended to the bonded joints.
