Escape processes are thermal, both gentle and hydrodynamic; various nonthermal mechanisms; and impact erosion. Interactions with the solid body are also important, and show profound differences between the various planets. The paper concludes with a brief survey of the evolution of Venus, earth, and Mars and a few remarks on the principal processes believed to be occurring today. |
