| 内容記述 | The angular momentum exchange between the earth atmosphere and the solid earth is examined with emphasis placed on the role of the ocean in the momentum transfer. Analysis of external torques such as surface wind stresses and continental torques suggest that, in general, the related angular momentum changes are mostly associated with barotropic variability in the ocean. Solutions for a midlatitude basin obtained with a shallow-water numerical model illustrate how angular momentum in a barotropic ocean is exchanged with the solid earth. |
