| 内容記述 | The relationship between the hot and cold phases of the interstellar medium in nearby elliptical and SO galaxies is examined by a comparison of X-ray, HI and 100 micron emission. The data suggest that there is little relationship between the presence and amount of hot and cold gas in these galaxies. The X-ray emission is more closely related to the stellar content of Es than are the HI or infrared emission, suggesting that the hot gas originates in mass loss from stars while the cold gas is the remains of the original interstellar medium plus accretion from outside the galaxy. |
