| 内容記述 | The polar wind represents the outflow of light ions from the polar regions of the earth's ionosphere. Tne present investigation is concerned with the results of detailed modeling of steady state outflow of H(+) and He(+) ions from the polar ionosphere into the tail regions of the magnetosphere. Theoretical models of the polar wind are examined, taking into account H(+) outflow, He(+) outflow, and the collisionless polar wind. Experimental observations are discussed, giving attention to direct measurements of plasma flow parallel to the geomagnetic field, and measurements of ionospheric plasma parameters indirectly related to the effects of outflow. It is concluded that at the present time the bulk of the information on the polar wind derives from theoretical models. |
