抄録	A mini-TPC has been designed and used for PEP-2 commissioning and background studies relevant for the BaBar detector. Installed successively near and around the interaction point with some other specific detectors between January 1998 and February 1999, it has proved to be very efficient for the understanding and reduction of the machine background, before the beginning of the BaBar experiment in May 1999.
