内容記述 | The isotropic composition of trapped xenon released at temperatures in excess of 1000 C from the Apollo 16 cataclastic anorthosite 60015 is found to be indistinguishable from that of the terrestrial atmosphere, in confirmation of the recent reports of terrestrial-like trapped xenon in similar lunar samples. The order-of-magnitude difference between the abundances of this trapped component in two very similar rocks (60015 and 60025) is interpreted as possible evidence for a lunar origin for the trapped xenon. Although the alternative explanation as terrestrial contamination cannot be ruled out, the relative abundances of trapped Ar, Kr, and Xe in rocks with terrestrial-like xenon provide additional evidence against a terrestrial origin. |
