内容記述 | Consideration of the role of stability of the mean jet flow of an edgetone system in the edgetone operation. A brief description of the main features of the edgetone operation and a brief review of the pertinent background are presented. This is followed by a discussion of the inadequacy of parallel flow stability considerations in explaining edgetone features. An analysis is made of the stability characteristics of a slightly nonparallel jet flow, and the role of jet stability based on these considerations in the edgetone operation is discussed. It is shown that the characteristics obtained by considering the nonparallel nature of the jet flowfield lead to a satisfactory description of the phenomenon, including a frequency selection criterion based on the concept of the most amplified disturbance frequency at each edge position. |
