抄録Tue PEP-2 B Factory had its first collisions in July 1998, and began its first run with the BaBar detector in May 1999. Luminosity has increased steadily through the run, exceeding 1 x 10(exp 33) by mid-September (1/3 of design), by gradually increasing the currents in the two rings, by improving the compensation for the effect of BaBar's 1.5-T solenoid on the beam optics, and by refining feedbacks for orbit drift and IP position. This paper will review PEP's instrumentation, especially aspects that have been important during this commissioning period.
