抄録 | Microporous carbons were prepared by carbonizing and activating bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens Mazel ex Houzeau de Lehaie). Steam, carbon dioxide, or air was used as the activating agent. When bamboo-based activated carbons with the same iodine-adsorption performance were prepared, activation with air gave lower activation yield than that with steam or carbon dioxide. The pore-size distribution of bamboo-based carbons activated with carbon dioxide and air was very similar. The mean pore diameter of bamboo-based carbon activated with steam was slightly larger than that activated with the other activation methods. The formation of micropores proceeded more effectively in carbon prepared from bamboo than that prepared from coconut shell. The pore diameter of activated carbon made from bamboo was smaller than that made from coal or wood, and similar to that made from coconut shell. The amount of 4-nonylphenol adsorbed onto the bamboo activated carbon was very high, even in highly dilute solution. |
