意思決定会議における非言語コミュニケーションの影響

Abstract

Discussions are carried out for decision-making purposes in a variety of situations in the modern world. One way to improve the quality of discussions is facilitation. However, this approach comes with its own set of problems, not to mention the effort involved in training a facilitator. There is a clear need for a facilitation support system that includes real time visualization of the discussion and supports with taking the minutes. In this study, we investigated the development of a facilitation support system and clarified the relationship between non-verbal communication and the quality of the meeting. First, we investigated recent findings in relation to facilitation and communication. Next, to explore the connection between the non-verbal element and decision making, we examined a testing method using facet theory. The non-verbal communication element was decided to be the “expression of joy” and “movement of the neck” and an examination was carried out using the expression of one participant and the neck movement and speech production data obtained from the experiment. Results showed that the flow of the discussion progressed smoothly when the “positive expression rate” was high. We also found that the quality of the meeting was related to the number of “nodding” movements.
