AbstractConcerns about energy have risen with both global environmental problems and the natural hazards in recent years. In response to these concerns, a solar photovoltaic system that can generate electricity cleanly and safely has been developed. However, even when sunshine is exclusively used, the influence of the environment cannot be discounted, so it is necessary to verify the power output in various environments in which a solar panel has been set up. In this study, the condition in which a part of the solar panel is covered by the shadow of a cloud, tree, and building was assumed. The shadow was intentionally formed on the solar panel using an incandescent lamp instead of sunlight and the variation of the electric-power generation was measured. A circuit simulating the output characteristic was created and the internal state of the photovoltaic panel by the shadow was evaluated. Results indicated that the generated output depended on the minimum value of the photo-electric current in each cell in the module by the proposed circuit for the simulation, including the by-pass diode in the small solar panel.
