抄録 | Using STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscope) to determine with accuracy the adsorption sites of nanosized objects on metallic surface may become a powerful technique. As an example, it was demonstrated from ESQC (Elastic Scattering Quantum Chemistry) calculation that STM images of benzene molecule adsorbed on a palladium (110) surface show strong internal structures. So that each possible adsorption site as well as the orientation of the plane of the molecule as function of the surface plane can be resolved by STM imaging. Recent set of experimental images (Surface Chemistry Lab., RIKEN (Institute of Physical and Chemical Research)) for this system confirms the theoretical predictions. |
