技術試験衛星6型(きく6号)運用概要

Abstract

The Engineering Test Satellite-6 (ETS-6), which was launched by the H-2 launch vehicle on August 28, 1994, is a Japanese two-ton class three-axis stabilized satellite. The ETS-6 was injected into a transfer orbit and named 'KIKU-6'. Unfortunately, it was placed on an unexpected elliptical orbit instead of a planned geostationary orbit because of an apogee engine failure. Therefore, operations and experiments of the ETS-6 were obliged to be carried out on the elliptical orbit. Many problems raised in operations and experiments on this orbit were overcome and most of the planned experiments were performed. This paper describes an outline of the operations and the experiments of the ETS-6 in initial phase, mission phase and post mission phase.

1994年8月28日にH-2打上用ロケットにより打上げられた技術試験衛星6型(ETS-6)は日本の2トン級の3軸安定化衛星である。このETS-6はトランスファ軌道に投入され、「きく6号」と命名された。不幸にも、ETS-6はアポジエンジンの故障のため、計画した静止軌道に乗らずに予期していない楕円軌道に乗ってしまった。それゆえ、ETS-6の運用および実験は楕円軌道で行わざるをえなくなった。この軌道での運用および実験で生じた諸問題が解決され、計画した実験のほとんどが実行された。本論文では、初期フェーズ、ミッションフェーズおよびポストミッションフェーズにおけるETS-6の運用および実験について概観した。
